ABOUT DARREN BARTLETT
Darren is a singer/songwriter, composer, arranger and performer with a diversity of talents, including vocal coaching, vocal performance and Piano. He is also a recognised internationally acclaimed composer and his published works include arrangements for choirs, solo artists, piano and various ensembles. As a composer and arranger, he has over 200 titles and three full-length stage musicals to his credit. His works have been featured on BBC Radio & Television and have been performed and recorded in many arenas worldwide.
Bartlett trained with the late Ian Adam, who was considered by many to be Britain’s premier voice coach.
Adam was responsible for coaching Michael Crawford for his role in the Andrew Lloyd Webber blockbuster musical, The Phantom Of the Opera.
Bartlett's portfolio of performances include many prestigious venues: in the UK at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Bridgewater Hall (Manchester), and in London, The Royal Festival Hall,
The Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wembley, The Palace Theatre and The Royal Albert Hall. US Venues include the Hollywood Bowl, and in Canada, Roy Thomson Hall and the Toronto Ford Centre for the Arts.
In 2005 Bartlett was featured more than once on BBC’s Songs of Praise alongside the Swedish Gospel singer, Annika Hansson. In subsequent years has featured on North American TV in California and Toronto plus has sung backing vocals for Russell Watson on a Christmas TV Special.
Almost 100 recordings featuring Bartlett and various vocal ensembles have been produced and most recently The Christmas Collection endorsed by BBC Radio and in conjunction with BBC Children in Need
As a vocal coach, Bartlett is committed as the director of his own vocal harmony group, Salvacosta who were the South West heat winners of the BBC Choir of the Year competition in 2012 and in 2014 reached the top 4 adults choir in the country.
Bartlett’s early career began in pop and then a fascination developed with musical theatre.
Now he is dedicated to finding young people with real talent to share his knowledge and experience with, back where it all began, in the world of pop music.
