NATIONAL CHOIR OF THE YEAR 2016
On 28th May 2016, The Dynamix Minis, a group of 9 talented children from the Bournemouth area entered the prestigious Choir of The Year 2016 competition at Portsmouth Guildhall, under the musical guidance of their Musical Director, Conductor and Mentor Darren Bartlett.
They had just 8 minutes to impress the adjudicators Manvinder Rattan and Will Todd, and sung 'My Favourite Things' from 'The Sound of Music' and 'Where Is Love?' & 'Food Glorious Food' from the Musical 'Oliver' with Piano accompaniment from Alvin Allison. Their performance was incredible, especially for ones so young, they were polished and professional, there to perform and so they did!! Will Todd commented on their performance ''My Heart is well and truly sung and you made it sing!''. He went on to say that ''there were some particularly fine moments'' and that ''I want to see your full production of Oliver, with you playing all the parts.'' The children were really pleased to hear that they had given a ''Really fine and technically assured performance'' and that they looked ''great'' and had been ''prepared brilliantly'' by their director. Will went on to say that he was looking at ''9 really good voices'' and that he thought ''the sound blended extremely well''. The advice that he gave moving forward was to ''keep doing what you're doing with the blend and keep on being brilliant young musicians, you're fantastic! Thankyou so much!'' After all the choirs from the morning auditions had performed the choirs assembled in the auditorium to hear the results of who would be going through to the next round by acheiving the required 75 points or more, from the available 90. Manvinder Rattan read the results and along with 3 other Choirs 'The Dynamix Minis' were selected to move forward! Lastly the sought after 'Choir of The Day' award was presented. Will Todd said ''I kept looking at this choir thinking when is the magic going to stop'' and ''with this choir this point just didn't seem to come. So, I'm very happy to award Choir of The Day to The Dynamix Minis.'' Of course the Minis and their parents are so pleased and their Musical Director Darren Bartlett said 'It's amazing, I'm still in shock!', ''I'm so proud of these little guys!'' |
