INTRADA- KING OF HEAVEN (Lauda Anima)
NEW BRASS WORKS FEATURING AT EXPERIANZA MUSIC Based on the well-known Hymn “Praise my Soul the King of Heaven” this arrangement was written for small brass ensemble to play for the entry of the bride at a Wedding. Later the piece was developed for full brass band to play at a Christmas Concert. The work is so versatile that it can be used for various occasions. The fluidity and accuracy of the triplets is key to the success of the opening and portrays a lost world searching for answers. As we reach the end of this stanza we encounter distress emulated the dissonant chord. Bar 13 in contrast, signifies the reliability and harmony that God brings to our world. Letter A in its simplistic scoring hints at calmer existence and a sense of contentment. The semiquavers from Baritone and Euphoniums again need to be so precise and played with the lightest, most delicate approach possible. The semi-staccato ensemble should be measured and gently supported. Cornets are heralding their praise with a bright fanfare ( as do the Trombones later in the piece). Allow the melody and counter-melody to shine equally throughout A&B. At letter C we are approaching the triumphant climax with keenness and confidence. A discordant bar (48) interrupts to imply we are being rescued from our foes. Finally we arrive uplifted and motivated in this glorious conclusion, safe in the knowledge that God is with us. As featured by Woodfalls Brass Band - National finalists (UK), championship section 2013. AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE FROM EXPERIANZA MUSIC
